Dead Hand

Daily tumblr thing #50. While browsing wikis and mashing the 'Random Page' button (which is how I usually pick drawing subjects) I came across Volvagia and Dead Hand. I decided to wait and draw one of them for daily #50 since it's kind of a special number and I wouldn't want to rush either of them. I went with Dead Hand because it made much more of an impact on me. I've found that I become more and more uncomfortable around it with each replay.

My god, everything about this enemy... The way you have to make yourself vulnerable to reveal it, the fact you don't know how close it'll be when it appears, the fact you have to frantically mash the a button in a desperate attempt to escape in time, the way it ambles up to you sloooooowly but just fast enough to send you into a panic and pose a very real threat, the way it takes its time eating your freaking face, those disgusting sounds it makes, the way the hands reach at you when you get near so you have to balance trying to get within range to attack Dead Hand all the while staying just out of their grasp lest the awful cycle of face grabbing and eating renew itself, that freaky unhinging jaw, and the way it twitches and writhes even after you defeat it... eugh. I've killed this abomination well over twenty times by this point, and it still wracks me with anxiety. I guess it helps that the dungeon preceding it sets the mood so well.

Seriously, **** that dungeon.
